Introduction:

“My Happiness” is a classic pop song that has been beloved by audiences for generations. Its simple, heartfelt lyrics and catchy melody have made it a timeless piece of music. While the song is often associated with Elvis Presley, its origins predate his iconic career.

The song’s melody was first composed in 1933 by Borney Bergantine, who wrote it with different lyrics. It wasn’t until 1948 that the song was released with the familiar lyrics we know today, written by Betty Blane and Van Thornburg. The song quickly became a popular standard, recorded by numerous artists.

Elvis Presley’s version of “My Happiness” was recorded in 1953 during his first recording session at Sun Studios in Memphis. It was one of only two songs he recorded that day, the other being “That’s When Your Heartaches Begin.” While these early recordings were not initially successful, they would later become highly sought after by collectors.
