Introduction:
A bitter feud surrounding Priscilla Presley has erupted into a staggering $50 million lawsuit, bringing allegations of financial misconduct, broken business agreements, disputed intellectual-property rights, and—most controversially—the final days of her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley.
Filed in California state court, the lawsuit was brought by auctioneer Bridget Cruz, entrepreneur and Desert Storm veteran Kevin Fialo, and several companies connected to their business ventures. They name Priscilla Presley, Kia Morgan, and other defendants, accusing them of a wide range of wrongdoing.
At the center of the dispute is the Presley name itself—and who had the right to profit from it.
According to the complaint, Cruz and Fialo say Priscilla enlisted them to rebuild and expand her brand through her name, image, and likeness. They claim they invested substantial personal funds, developed products, handled public relations, negotiated business opportunities, and worked to increase the commercial value of Priscilla’s image.
But the plaintiffs allege they later discovered that Priscilla had already transferred rights involving her name, image, and likeness years earlier. The complaint claims she failed to disclose that arrangement while encouraging Cruz and Fialo to invest in developing her brand.
The lawsuit contains 16 separate causes of action, including fraud, conversion, breach of contract, misappropriation of name and likeness, and intentional interference with contractual and prospective business relationships. The plaintiffs are seeking more than $50 million in damages, along with attorneys’ fees, costs, and other relief.
Then comes the most emotionally explosive part of the complaint: Lisa Marie Presley’s death in January 2023.
The plaintiffs allege that Lisa Marie was seriously ill around the time of the Golden Globes, where she and Priscilla were connected to the success of the Elvis film. They claim Lisa Marie had concerns about her relationship with her mother and was considering changes involving trusts and financial arrangements.
Most shockingly, the complaint alleges that after Lisa Marie suffered cardiac arrest and was hospitalized, Priscilla allegedly made decisions regarding her care that conflicted with Lisa Marie’s stated wishes. The plaintiffs further allege that Priscilla moved quickly to control the public narrative following Lisa Marie’s death.
These are allegations contained in a lawsuit, not established facts, and they would have to be tested through evidence, discovery, depositions, and potentially a trial.
The complaint also turns its attention to Kia Morgan, whom the plaintiffs accuse of interfering with their relationship with Priscilla and participating in an alleged smear campaign against them. They claim Morgan made threatening-sounding statements and helped undermine their business arrangements.
Perhaps the most important question now is what evidence can actually support these claims. The complaint reportedly includes documents such as agreements, text messages, and Lisa Marie’s advance healthcare directive. Riley Keough, Lisa Marie’s daughter, could also become an important witness if the case moves forward.
Yet there is a major legal question surrounding the Lisa Marie allegations: Will a judge even allow that deeply personal history to become part of the trial? Much of it may be challenged as irrelevant or unfairly prejudicial to the jury because the lawsuit itself primarily concerns business relationships, contracts, and financial damages.
For now, the case presents a remarkable collision of family, money, fame, and control over the Presley legacy. If it survives early motions and does not settle, discovery could expose communications, financial records, trust documents, and business dealings that may dramatically reshape the public understanding of the feud.
And ironically, for a lawsuit involving the protection of Priscilla Presley’s public image, the biggest damage may already be happening in the headlines.
