Because Of Love isn’t one of Elvis Presley’s most renowned songs, but it holds a unique place in his filmography and musical trajectory. Released in 1962, the ballad was featured on the soundtrack for the movie Girls! Girls! Girls!, a romantic comedy starring Presley alongside actresses Shelley Fabares and Stella Stevens.

While Elvis was known for his electrifying Rock and Roll performances, the soundtracks for his films often incorporated a wider range of genres. Because Of Love leans into a more tender and ballad-heavy style. The song was written by songwriting duo Ruth Batchelor and Bob Roberts, and produced by RCA Victor, the record label that had been Presley’s home since the beginning of his meteoric rise in the late 1950s.

The recording sessions for Girls! Girls! Girls! took place in March of 1962 at Radio Recorders in Hollywood. Because Of Love was captured on the second day of recording, and it took six takes to get the final version that appears on the soundtrack.
